Calorized Lance Pipe

Our Calorized lance pipe lasts 3 to 10 times* longer than mild steel lance. It is used for steel melting by blowing oxygen, carbon, lime, coke, iron ore and/or other additives.

Our calorized lance has been used since 1955 in over 70 countries and over 150 plants worldwide.

We are the forerunner in lancing technology and innovation where our R&D team is constantly inventing and further improving the lancing solution.

Structure Explained

Calorized Lance Pipe (CA)

Refractory Coating

Our Daiwa Ca Lance also has a thin refractory on the interior surface that shields the steel from direct contact with oxygen stream.

On the exterior surface, it has a thick refractory coating that effectively protects the steel from heat attack.

Calorized Layer

Daiwa Lance has a homogeneous calorized layer both inside and out.

Micro-view of Calorized Layer

Curing the calorization process, aluminum diffuses into mild steel when heated up to 1,000C and forms heat resistant aluminum-iron alloy (Calorized Layer) over the surface of mild steel.

Comparison Test

Calorized vs Non Calorized

Condition

Both sample were exposed to about 1,270 °C for 50hrs.

Test Result

  • Calorized: Ceramic Coating adheres firmly.
  • Non-Calorized: Ceramic Coating peels away.
